What is Spartan Orb Z?
Spartan Orb Z is online comedy machinima series that combines Halo Reach(an Xbox 360 game) and Dragonball Z (a Japanese Anime). The story follows the adventures of Moku and his friends as they embark on a journey to find the Spartan Orbs and rid the universe of evil. Created by Jason Henry (Redheadhenry), creator of the YouTube series Superhero Muggs, Spartan Orb Z started out as an idea sparked from watching too much Dragonball Z as a child and being too much of a Halo geek. The series, while similar to the events of Dragonball Z, does have it’s differences and is not to be considered an exact recreation of the Japanese anime.
How did it Start?
After ending Superhero Muggs in December 2010, Jason started thinking about what kind of series he would like to do next. While playing Halo one day he realized that some of the things in Halo were in Dragonball Z. Obviously, it wasn’t an exact recreation but the possibility was still there. So he made a list of all the things that could be done in Halo that could portray what was happening in Dragonball Z. For instance, the flaming helmet was the Super Sayian spiky hair, and the Spartan Laser if colored blue could easily be a Kamehameha wave.
So as a test Jason decided to make a demo movie. He wrote out a script and asked Bryan, voice actor from Superhero Muggs, to help him with the demo. The end result, while having its flaws, was enough to go forward with starting a new series. Ideas started to build, scripts started to be written, and Spartan Orb Z was born.
What are the Spartan Orbs?
In a world where everyone’s a Spartan, there exists five special blue orbs called Spartan Orbs. Lost in myth and unknown to the world, these five orbs if brought together can summon the Eternal Spartan who grants special armor permutations. Only five armor permutations exist and only one may be granted. The first is fame, which gives the Spartan fame and fortune. Second is love, in which the Spartan would become romantically involved with any other Spartan of whom he or she wished. Third is seclusion, where the Spartan would inevitably become unknown and the world around him or her would no longer acknowledge their existence. Fourth is immortality, in which the Spartan could live forever unaltered by time or death. The fifth and final armor permutation is unknown and can only be obtained once all four other armor permutations have been used from past gatherings.
